PH TEST KIT INSTRUCTIONS
Why Do pH Tests?
A pH of 7 is neutral. Anything above 7 is alkaline and anything below 7 is acidic. Keeping your aquarium at the correct pH guarantees good water quality. You should test the pH on a weekly basis because naturally occurring materials in your aquarium (fish waste, uneaten food, etc.) can affect the pH.
Testing Tips
The minimum and maximum pH values for this kit are 7.5 and 9.0, respectively. In extreme water conditions, below the minimum values will be 7.5, and above the maximum values will be 9.0. pH adjustments outside of this kit’s range will not make any difference until the aquarium water’s pH is within this kit’s range.
Directions
Remove safety cap:
1. Fill a clean test vials with 5 ml of water to be tested (to the line on the vials).
2. Shake well pH s reagent before use. Add 3 drops of pH Test reagent. (holding dropper bottle upside down in a completely vertical position to assure uniformity of drops.)
3. Cap the test vials and shake several times to mix solution.
4. Read the test results observe the color change of the water sample in the vials horizontally, compare with the pH color chart, and read the pH value of the corresponding water sample.
Recommended pH Levels
A pH of 7.5 is ideal for most live-bearing fish, such as mollies and swordtails. Goldfish will also thrive at a pH of 7.5. African cichlids prefer a pH of 8.2. Marine fish and Invertebrates require a pH between 8.2-8.4. To raise or lower the pH of a freshwater aquarium, use AQUANATURE PH + or AQUANATURE PH -.
